Introduction: Udaipur, a small town in Tripura once upon a time which was known as Rangamati was the capital of the royal family of Tripura. For more than 1169 years Udaipur (Rangamati) was the capital of  Tripura. The name Udaipur came from the name of Maharaja Uday Manikya. Before becoming a state of India, Tripura was ruled by the kings. The royal family of Tripura dug up many lakes in Udaipur which still exist. That's why Udaipur is known as "the Lake City of Tripura". The main lakes of Udaipur are Jagannath dighi, mahadev dighi, Amar sagar, Dhanisagar, kalyan sagar. All these are artificial lakes.
